The last few years I have been making, with the help of my sister, various things for Christmas. First of all we made this nativity set from polymer clay using existing instructions [hobbycraft.co.uk].

Last year we progressed to designing our own set of cake decorations. In the past I have made cake decorations out of icing but I prefer the permanence of polymer clay.

We also made baubles from used lightbulbs. I think it's so nice that unwanted items can be recycled into such pretty ornaments. I got the general idea from various websites, but the designs are my own. I made the snowflake one (left) from a "daylight" bulb, allowing the bare glass to be seen. For the village scene (right) I took advantage of the size of a large globe bulb. We used acrylic paints and a touch of glitter glue. The metal ends of the bulbs are hidden by tiny cake/sweet cases.

I have a few ideas for this year, but I'm keeping them a secret until I've implemented them.
